Late night beach fun.
Sipping ice coffee with my toes in the sand and sea salt in my hair..
Not much more makes me a happier girl.

What I'm Wearing:
Vintage Guns 'N' Roses t-shirt I got at Salvation Army years ago and cut up into a few different styles over the years (you'll see what I'm talking about below!) | Black Levis jean shorts also from Salvation Army years ago- distressed myself | Flannel given to me from my moms old 90's wardrobe | All jewelry gifted from my favorite jewelry designer, Vanessa Mooney

This is the first of my little series titled "Now & Then".
I think with blogging becoming so popular these days fleeting trends tend to overflow content vs. original style. I find myself sticking to pieces I have worn and loved over the years rather then current trendy pieces you'd see in the front window of H&M. I also think it's interesting to see the transition of how one piece is styled on the same person 5-6 years later.
When I came across this photo of me below, at age 16, wearing the same shirt I'm wearing above, now at 23, the quote "fashion fades- style is eternal" really set in. Style is such a personal thing, it's important to not lose sight of that. You should always make sure you are wearing something because you love it, not because it's on the cover of a magazine or a window display.

I love the idea of doing a then and now style blog...that will always be an awesome tee
ReplyDeleteWe totally agree, and we love your insight on this topic. Style is a really personal thing, fashion trends come and go every season but you have to have your own person style to pick what you consider to be the most fashionable to you when new fashion trends come about. You'll always stay true to yourself that way. We love how your brought this discussion up. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteNicole, we followed you please be kind and follow us back? We'd really appreciate it!

I couldn't agree more. There are so many people that just follow the trends. Even on fashion blogs. That is one of the many reasons your block rocks (and rolls)!

Stunning photos, I saved many clothes from when I was younger and still wear them all the time, so you are so right about that. Great blog you have, check mine if like.

These days you can even pay for style, but I feel then you never truly own it. Style is something that should be an outward expression from within. It's really all about staying original to yourself. Nicole, there are no doubts in my mind that you will never forget your roots.
ReplyDeleteAnd that is why I follow you!! I have to admit sometimes I'm tempted to try some new things that come and go but some days the blogosphere looks like a cookie cutter lookbook of the exact same trends and pieces over and over again, it's getting kind of boring. But I LOVE your style and I truly like seeing what you have put together :)
