A CLOCK TICKING ON THE WALL, A ROOM DIM AT NOON.

“We knew the girls were really women in disguise, that they understood love, and even death,
and that our job was merely to create the noise that seemed to fascinate them.”
The Virgin Suicides
The Lisbon girls will always be one of my biggest inspirations. This entire novel and film paints such a painfully sharp and critical portrait of the suburban American life experienced by girls just like me. The 1999 film directed by Sofia Coppola was shot so beautifully that the imagery never really seems to leave my mind. The simplicity, pain, and beauty all felt together in this film kinda sums up a lot of my love for my solitude. Not to mention, my love for getting lost in thought alone, listening to my records, on my bed- half dressed or in vintage nightgowns..
