COME AS YOU ARE.

For me, flannels will always be a huge part of my wardrobe. A few of my biggest fashion inspirations have been rocking them since I could start dressing myself.. Kurt Cobain, Johnny Depp, my dad, and Garth Algar (..yes, Garth from Waynes World. SHWING!) I love flannels so much that I just couldn’t take it anymore- I had to make them work during warm summer days. Of course, there’s always the option of cutting the sleeves off, but I just didn’t want to do that to all my cozy friends.. so, make-shift skirt it was!

To recreate this look is super simple: First, hop on over to your local thrift shop. There will be TONS of flannels in the mens section- this I promise you. Getting a flannel from a second hand store is key if you want that authentic 90’s, super worn in, look and feel.. (which, hello- how could we not?!) Next, just button it up until it fits you nice at the waist and then tie the sleeves around you as if you were normally tying a flannel around your waist.. and bam! Make-shift skirt!

Thrift tip: With flannels, as much as I die over red ones.. they’re the trickiest. You want to make sure the colors/prints don’t end up looking like you’re ready for christmas, or in your pajamas, or even worse.. in your christmas pajamas! Also steer clear of red or green based flannels If you plan on recreating this look.. I mean, unless you’re totally into kilts!

What I’m Wearing:
White cropped top and gray beanie from American Apparel | Flannel thrifted from Salvation Army | BCBG tan boots | Vanessa Mooney jewels

Spent the day cruizing around suburbia- finding some gems at garage sales and a little thrifting. So much better than in NYC.
