INVESTMENT PIECES, THE SMART WAY.

I’ve always been a thrifty shopper. I’ve learned to know when and how to spend my money to curate the best wardrobe of basics, vintage, and designer investment pieces. This has been years of vintage shopping, working as a buyer in vintage shops in NYC, being a blogger and testing out thousands of brands, and having an eye for classic/statement designer pieces. There’s definitely a formula to curating a perfect closet, but I think I’ve come pretty close to it. When it comes to fast fashion basics, I think you guys don’t need any tips on that, so moving on…

With vintage, finding  a really coveted investment piece can be a witch hunt. So my go-to has always been eBay and etsy. Some examples of vintage items that are a bit more on the expensive side that I’ve purchased on there has been a Japan sukajan jacket and “paper thin” (key words like this help make your search easier) vintage tees.

For designer items, this is where my real secrets really come out.

For my ACNE jackets, I usually search The Real Real, which is also where I scored my vintage Chanel book bag. I’ve purchased a brand new 2,000 Valentino leather jacket (as seen in this post) and a YSL clutch off AMUZE, which is all designer overstock, so it’s not even used or vintage. For my YSL purse(as seen in this post), I purchased this one at The Woodbury Commons Outlet. While it still broke the bank at 2k, and I only saved $500 on it, it’s was the final item I’ve been coveting foreverrrrrrr. While I didn’t get the best savings on my YSL bag at the outlet, I did get my Chanel earrings there YEARS ago for next to nothing in the world of Chanel.

So if you’re going to make a spurge, be smart about it. Really research and hunt down the item of your dreams for a good price! Sometimes It takes a few months of checking daily, but once you find it for less than half the retail price, it’s so worth it! Also think statement if you’re investing in a designer item… A piece you can and will wear everyday. A leather jacket, a purse, black boots, statement earrings/necklace, or sunglasses are my top 5 worthy pieces of investment.

Hope this post helps guide you to curating your perfect closet! xx
